JANICE: Rockland New York and Pearl River and I'm so glad I did because he just was, I think it was more important to me to find a doctor I could relate to and feel comfortable with and Dr. Small made me feel so special from the very beginning through the whole process. There was not a time where I called him that within 5 minutes my phone rang and it was him calling back and just, he's just amazing.

I had never, never considered not having reconstructive surgery. I think the thought may have flashed through my mind for about 3.2 seconds because I thought at my age do I really want to go through that? And as quickly as the thought came in, it went back out and I said, of course I want to have it. You know, I have a long life ahead of me and I want to feel like a woman for the rest of that life. I was terrified to look because I couldn't imagine what I was going to see and I was so pleasantly surprised by what was there.

I don't ever regret having the reconstructive surgery and yeah, that definitely helped me get through this whole process much easier. Women who are facing breast reconstruction are in a crisis period in their lives and mostly in a state of disbelief which I definitely was and he, with his compassion and kindness, just made me know deep down inside that I was going to get through this and I was going to be fine. There's a period where you feel like you're not a complete woman. You feel like there's something missing, you feel like something in your life has altered so drastically that you can never be the same and even with a 25 year marriage, you still worry that you are going to be that same special person that your husband always thought you were. I feel less secure in my marriage now as I ever did, so, I don't have any qualms about feeling like less of a woman.

It was just such a pleasure to work with him and his staff. And I'm so glad I went to him. He came highly recommended and now every time I talk about him I keep hearing people say, he's brilliant at what he does.
