LYNNE: With the diep flat surgery when I woke up, yes, I did have breasts again and it was nice. Because of my age I wasn't sure I was a good candidate for the diep flap, but Dr. Small assured me that that was one of the things he could do for me, so I was very happy. It was nice to wake up and still have, still be feeling like a woman. So that was important to me at that time.
I did a search on the internet, which is how I found him, and when I called, when I emailed his office he was, Dr. Small was very good about getting right back to me and scheduling an appointment and talking to me and letting me know what might be available for me.
My first impression of him was that he was young. But he's wonderful. His bedside manner is just, he's so gracious and he's so caring that is was very easy to work with him and have this surgery done with him. And he recommended the surgeon to do the double mastectomy and he was also wonderful.
You don't really know until you have it done to yourself how you're going to or what, how you're going to react, how you're going to feel. It went very smoothly, which I was pleased for and it's, he has just been wonderful. It's just been a wonderful experience dealing with him and his office.
The compassion that he has for women is very wonderful. He just seems to have a sixth sense about what we need and Dr. Small is just, he's just a wonderful person.
